GSU Students inducted into Council of Eastern Forest Technology Schools Honor Society (CEFTS)

GLENVILLE, WV – Three Glenville State University students have been inducted into the Council of Eastern Forest Technology Schools (CEFTS) Honor Society. This is the oldest award that the organization gives to outstanding individuals in forest technology who have obtained at least a 3.30 in their forestry courses and at least a 3.00 overall grade point average. The students recently inducted into the CEFTS Honor Society are Jessica Armstrong, Andrew Thompson, and Jacob Torres.

“These are exceptional students who have a great work ethic, superior knowledge and skills, and potential,” said GSU Professor of Forestry, Dr. Brian Perkins. 

Andrew Thompson is a Senior double major in wildlife management (BS NRMT) and forest technology (AS Forest Tech).  Andrew is from Barbour County, WV and he has interned with the WV Division of Forestry, AHF Products, and WV Division of Natural Resources.   

Jessica Armstrong is a Senior double major in wildlife management (BS NRMT) and forest technology (AS Forest Tech).  Jessica is from Pocahontas County; WV and she has interned with the WV Division of Forestry and WV Division of Natural Resources.  In her spare time Jessica enjoys hunting, fishing, camping, and other outdoor activities. She is a member of the Forestry Club, 4-H, Delight Women’s ministry, and Baptist Campus Ministries. Jessica said “This is such an honor to receive, and I am so blessed to have amazing professors and fellow students to make the department so great.”

Jacob Torres is a Senior double major in wildlife management (BS NRMT) and forest technology (AS Forest Tech).  Jacob is from Jackson County, WV and he has interned with the WV Division of Forestry, a private landowner, and WV Division of Natural Resources.  Jacob’s hobbies include hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, and visiting national parks. Jacob said “I’m very honored to receive recognition for this achievement and I couldn’t have done it without the help and support of the Glenville State University Land Resources Department. Dr Perkins and Dr. Gazal are wonderful forestry professors and work hard to help students strive to do the best they can.”
