On April 17, the Pioneers for a Cause had their thirteenth annual Cancer's a Drag event. There were both group acts made up of sorority members as well as individual acts. There was a total of six acts, and they earned $152 in total from the event. There were two winners; one was the crowd favorite and the other earned the most money. The crowd favorite was Trixie, or Trixxxie as she spelled it, a drag queen, and the drag king group “Two Bucks," earned a total of $69, making them the group that earned the most money. None of the performers disclosed any of their actual names. They also had a two-time winner, a drag queen (who was for some reason not in drag), show up that evening.

It was an enjoyable event, but the seriousness of it all was noticeable at the end. One of the participants, Trixie, contributed to the event for the past few years and had trouble with cancer herself. The announcer asked everybody in the audience who had a family member or friend who had dealt with cancer to stand up. Almost everyone in the room was standing at the end of it. It was interesting seeing how many people had been affected by cancer and how important the cause is.
