There are certain things that come with a college education and one of those is the learning of the material as well as learning some classroom etiquette. When students come to college as freshman, they are a bit unseasoned in how a collegiate classroom setting should be due to disruptive high school students who may have not been aware of the opportunity their letting slip through their hands. By making sure of a few simple steps you will be able to optimize your experience in the classroom by obtaining all the given knowledge possible. Here are a few of those tips

  • Take responsibility for your education.
  • Attend every class.
  • Get to class on time.
  • Get your textbook, notebook, and pen out and ready as soon as you sit down.
  • Do not have private conversations.
  • Turn mobile phones off.
  • Do not dominate other students' opportunity to learn by asking too many questions.
  • Respect your instructor.
  • Your classmates deserve your respect and support.
  • Come to class prepared.
  • Turn in your work on time
  • Do not bring children to class. In case of a true emergency, ask your professor for permission, and remove children if they become restless or disruptive immediately.
  • Do not begin to pack up your things before the professor dismisses the class.

These guidelines are more times helpful than not. Some of these are more prevalent than others like getting to class on time. There is nothing worse than having someone come into class about 15 minutes late and disturbing everyone’s train of thought. Even though these are some basic class room etiquette make sure to always pay attention and to keep the value of you and your classmates education at the top of the priority list.
