Glenville State College: Heads Up

By Emily Salisbury

Earlier this week the tenure and promotion results were given. According to Provost Dr. Gary Morris, The following faculty applied and were awarded tenure and/or promotion:

  • Matthew Thiele was promoted from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor of English and granted tenure beginning Fall 2020.
  • Jason Barr was promoted from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor of Music Education and granted tenure beginning Fall 2020.
  • Connie Stout was promoted from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor of Education and granted tenure beginning Fall 2020.
  • Davie Lewis was promoted from Associate Professor to Professor of Music Education beginning Fall 2020.
  • Jonathan Minton was promoted from Associate Professor to Professor of English beginning Fall 2020.

Before being awarded the tenure and/or promotion the applicants must go through the application process. Dr. Morris stated, “The application process is that the faculty submit a portfolio of their work, along with a recommendation letter from their respective department chairs or senior faculty member, to the Tenure and Promotion Committee. The committee reviews all submitted material and makes a recommendation to the Provost, who also reviews submitted material and the committee’s recommendations. The Provost then submits a recommendation to the President, who has final say on who gets a promotion and/or tenure.”

The Phoenix would like to congratulate those who applied and were awarded the tenure and/or promotion.
