Fina Arts Building

This past Tuesday, April 16, 2019, Glenville State College held an Audition day for the Fine Arts Department. There was a wonderful turn out in every avenue of musical genres that we offer. Professor Harry Rich said, “It makes you feel good when you see the hard work of young musicians paying off when they come talk to us, perform for us, and get excited about coming to Glenville.” There were about 35 total high school students who came out and interacted with Glenville State faculty and staff.  This involved things like watching the current ensembles perform, getting too speak one-on-one with future professors and financial aid officers, as well as get to play some tunes with a few of the current programs.

There have been many successful attempts by the admissions department to go out this past academic year and promote GSC in the state's high schools. Fortunately, I was able to be a part of some of the recruitment trips. There was such a gratifying feeling upon seeing some of the same students that I was able inform about our school and our Fine Arts Department. I believe the frequent trips to the surrounding  high schools really made an impact on the flow of students we saw at the audition day. The great attendance will hopefully translate to other departments within the college pertaining to prospected students.

The Fine Arts Department really enjoyed all the talented young folks that came out and showed interest in our programs. We look forward to hopefully seeing all the musicians who came and displayed their talents this past week to becoming future Pioneers.
