Homecoming festivities at Glenville State University date back many years. Every fall, the university takes the time to coordinate an entire week dedicated to the homecoming of Glenville State alumni. This year, the homecoming festivities are set to take place today through October 14, with each day holding something more exciting than the one before.

On Monday, the week started out strong with the annual Coronation Ceremony and Picnic where the Fall 2023 Homecoming Representatives were recognized. Samantha Dawson and Haley Lough were crowned as the 2023 Royalty.

Later on in the day, students and faculty gathered on Clark Hall Lawn to participate in the second annual Stop the Stigma Run/Walk hosted by the on-campus counseling center. The group walked from the main campus to the Waco Center to show their support for those struggling with mental health and to prove that no one walks alone. University President Dr. Mark Manchin was also in attendance.

As the week goes on, many other campus-wide events will be held to celebrate, including a Breast Cancer Awareness Auction, Homecoming Dance, and the most anticipated annual Chili Cook-off.

On Saturday, the University will host its alumni and prospective new students at the homecoming football game.  Members of the community can look forward to watching the parade on Main Street starting at 10 am, tailgating at the Waco center at 11 am, and being in the stands for kick-off at 1:30 as the Glenville Pioneers take on the Wheeling Cardinals.

All through Homecoming Week the excitement around campus cannot be contained. While homecoming may look different for everyone, there is almost always something that each person can enjoy. To see different perspectives of homecoming week around campus, be on the lookout next week for an inside look at what homecoming means to those around you.
