GSC Spirit Song Contest Accepting Entries
A contest is underway at Glenville State College to provide lyrics for a new school spirit song. Two GSC students, Robbie Mann and Josh Pitcock, have composed music for the song and they're now reaching out to the current student body, alumni, and campus faculty and staff to craft the lyrics.
Asturian-American Painters Showcased in GSC Gallery
Glenville State College is currently showcasing the paintings of artist Art Wagner, but with a twist. His exhibit also includes pieces by his mother Honnie Wagner and his grandfather Emilio Alvarez for a dynamic show that encompasses around 100 years of culture and history in West Virginia's Asturian communities that got their start in the early 1900s. The show is on display in the GSC Fine Arts Center Spears Gallery and an opening reception is scheduled to take place on Monday, January 26th from 5:00-7:00 p.m.
GSC Brass Ensemble to Perform at Charleston Town Center Mall
The Glenville State College Brass Ensemble will again be entertaining shoppers at the Charleston Town Center Mall on Saturday, December 20th with a selection of holiday music. They will be performing from 11:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Macy’s Court in the mall on what is traditionally the busiest shopping day of the year, the Saturday before Christmas.
Winter Jazz Concert is December 5th at GSC
Members of the Glenville State College Jazz Band are preparing for their winter concert, which will take place on Friday, December 5th at 7:00 p.m., in the GSC Fine Arts Center Auditorium. The first half of the concert will feature jazz and swing music from artists including Glenn Miller, Count Basie, and Artie Shaw. The second half will feature Christmas tunes performed in a jazz style.

The Glenville State College Department of Fine Arts is proud to announce its 2014 Music Fest in the GSC Fine Arts Center Auditorium at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 14th.
Recitals Planned for GSC Seniors
Two Glenville State College seniors have upcoming recitals planned in the Fine Arts Center Auditorium. Seth Stemple will perform his senior recital on Sunday, November 16th at 3:00 p.m. and Courtney Cole will perform her senior recital on Tuesday, November 18th at 7:00 p.m.
GSC Bluegrass Band Annual Concert Tickets Now on Sale
Tickets are on sale for the annual Glenville State College Bluegrass Band Concert scheduled during Homecoming Day 2014 on Saturday, October 11th in the GSC Fine Arts Center Auditorium. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. with the concert beginning at 7:00 p.m. This year’s concert will feature Bobby Osborne and the Rocky Top X-Press as guest performers.
Worl Exhibit Open Through September 19th
A reception to recognize the works of award-winning artist, Arlinka Worl, was held on Monday, September 8th from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Glenville State College Spears Fine Arts Gallery. Worl's work will be featured until Friday, September 19th.
GSC Student Returns from Internship in Nashville
Bluegrass music major Toni Doman recently returned from a summer internship in Nashville, Tennessee with the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA). Doman, a senior from Cameron, WV, arranged her internship when visiting Nashville during a GSC-sponsored spring semester trip.
Davisson Brothers Band to Headline First Concert at GSC Waco Center
The August 30 Waco Center concert will begin with the band meeting fans and signing autographs from 6-6:45 p.m. Music is scheduled to start at 7. Students with an I.D. (from any school) will be admitted free of charge. Otherwise, the cover change is $10.
