DeMatteo Receives GSC Faculty Award of Excellence
Glenville State College Professor of History Dr. Art DeMatteo is the 2014 recipient of the GSC Faculty Award of Excellence. DeMatteo, who has worked at GSC for ten years, received the award at the 140th GSC Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, May 10th.
Two GSC Students Participate in National Ceramics Competition
Amanda Wallbrown of Rosedale, WV and Ryan Singleton of Burnsville, WV, two Glenville State College studio art majors, recently took part in the San Angelo National Ceramic Competition in Texas. While both were honored by their selection to compete, Wallbrown was further recognized with a Merit Award that was accompanied by a $50 prize.
Fifty Students Named GSC Honor Graduates
Fifty members of Glenville State College's Class of 2014 have been recognized as honor graduates. The students received their honor stoles at the annual Honor Graduates Reception held on May 8th in the Mollohan Campus Community Center Ballroom.
GSC Awards Scholarships to Incoming Freshmen
Over thirty upcoming Glenville State College freshmen from throughout West Virginia have been awarded scholarships from the GSC Foundation for the 2014-2015 academic school year.
Twenty-Nine Students Recognized at Honors Convocation
Twenty-nine students, one student organization, and one student group's faculty advisors have been recognized at the 2014 Glenville State College Honors Convocation Ceremony. The event took place on May 1st following a banquet in the Mollohan Campus Community Center Ballroom.
Four GSC Cadets Receive Army Commissions
On Friday, May 9th four Glenville State College Army ROTC students, also members of the WVSU based 'Yellow Jacket Battalion,' were commissioned as United States Army Second Lieutenants during a ceremony held at the state capitol in Charleston.
GSC Class of 2014 Receives Their Diplomas; Rust Delivers Keynote Address
The Glenville State College Class of 2014 includes graduates who completed requirements for an Associate or Bachelor's Degree in a variety of academic areas including business, criminal justice, teacher education, and natural resource management among others. The GSC Class of 2014 is made up of more than 220 students who completed their degree requirements in July 2013, December 2013, and May 2014.
Largest Class of GSC Hidden Promise Scholars Graduate
Thirteen Hidden Promise Scholars graduating from Glenville State College were the guests of honor at a dinner held on Friday, April 30th in the Mollohan Campus Community Center Ballroom. GSC President Dr. Peter Barr who first envisioned the Hidden Promise Scholars (HPS) program in 2006, presented commemorative plaques and Hidden Promise Scholars class rings in honor of their achievement.
