Multicultural Affairs

Glenville State University’s Office of Multicultural Affairs aims to create a diverse community that welcomes people of different races, cultures, ages, genders, sexual orientation, religions, socioeconomic levels, political perspectives, abilities, opinions, values, and experiences.

We strive to reflect these differences in our decisions, curriculum, programs, and actions. We also work to create an environment that brings out the best in all people, leading to positive contributions to the campus community. Glenville State seeks to ensure that all members of the Pioneer Family have equal access to the education and resource opportunities available at the University. Policy and procedures will create and sustain an inclusive and productive environment for faculty, staff, and students.

Greetings!

Glenville State University has long been recognized as an outstanding liberal arts institution with a history spanning  150 years. We understand the value of diversity within our campus community but also recognize our responsibility to do more, to go beyond.

The Office of Multicultural Affairs seeks to establish a campus climate in which all members are able to freely express their culture and ethnicity and use such opportunities to educate faculty, staff, and students of the valuable experiences and stories that are a part of who we all are as a Pioneer Family.

As an institution of higher education, all of us bring a desire for excellence, integrity, care, and curiosity. I encourage our campus community to go beyond what has been comfortable and stretch to learn about the many cultures and people that surround them. Through meaningful interactions with those who do not look like us nor share similar backgrounds, we are better equipped to understand who we are and ultimately who we can become. Glenville State possesses the potential to reach the highest levels of multiculturalism.

I am honored to be serving as Glenville State’s first Chief Diversity Officer and look forward to engaging with areas across campus to provide services and programs that meet the needs of our community.
