Multi-Factor Authentication

The Office of Technology will be enabling Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for email on Thursday, June 18, 2026.

This is a necessary step to help Glenville State University remain compliant with the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA) requirements and enhance the security of university accounts and data.

Many of you already use MFA for services such as online banking, timekeeping, and other personal accounts. MFA adds an extra layer of protection by verifying your identity when you sign in.

Setting up the App

To prepare for this change:

  1. Download the Microsoft Authenticator app from your device's app store.
  2. Once installed, follow the prompts and click Next to pair the Microsoft Authenticator app with your Glenville email account.
  3. Select Add Work or School Account.
  4. Enter your full Glenville State University email address and password.
  5. Follow the remaining on-screen instructions to complete the setup process.

Using the App in the Future

When you log in to your GSU email account, Microsoft will display a number on the sign-in screen.

Open the Microsoft Authenticator app on your mobile device and enter the displayed number when prompted. Once the number is verified, you will be granted access to your account.
