BGSU Doctor of Occupational Therapy Qualifications
Bowling Green State University (BGSU) School of Physical and Occupational Therapy offers an accelerated, hybrid Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) which can be completed in just two years with a combination of online and in-person coursework. BGSU early assurance program will accept five Glenville State University students annually who meet the following requirements.
- Submit an initial application by the Early Assurance deadline in the spring semester of your junior academic year
- Obtain a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences with Pre-Occupational Therapy concentration
- Attain a minimum overall cumulative GPA of 3.2
- Attain an overall GPA of 3.2 or higher in the required prerequisite courses: ENGL 102, EXSC 493, HLTH 107, HLTH 230, HLTH 231, MATH 256, PED 332, PSYC 201, PSYC 250, and PSYC 310
- Attain a minimum of “B” in each required prerequisite course
- Complete a minimum of twenty (20) hours of shadowing with a licensed OT. Students can satisfy this requirement with EXSC 493 (Practicum)
- Complete the online application for the BGSU OTD program through the Occupational Therapist Common Application System (OTCAS) by BGSU standard admission process and deadlines.

- Refer to the applicant walkthrough for BGSU specific instructions
- Submit three letters of recommendation. One recommendation must be from an occupational therapist licensed in the US who has interacted with you in a clinical setting, either through employment or shadowing observation hours.
- Complete a second application to BGSU’s Graduate College once admitted through OTCAS.
Students who do not meet the above criteria may still apply to the BGSU OTD program and will be considered in relation to other qualified candidates in the general pool.
