BGSU Doctor of Physical Therapy Qualifications
Bowling Green State University (BGSU) School of Physical and Occupational Therapy offers an accelerated, hybrid Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) which can be completed in seven semesters with a combination of online and in-person coursework. BGSU early assurance program will accept five Glenville State University students annually who meet the following requirements.
- Submit an initial application by the Early Assurance deadline in the spring semester of your junior academic year
- Obtain a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences with Pre-Physical Therapy concentration
- Attain a minimum overall cumulative GPA of 3.4
- Attain an overall GPA of 3.4 or higher in the required prerequisite courses: BIOL 120, BIOL 121, CHEM 101, CHEM 102, ENGL 102, EXSC 493, HLTH 230, HLTH 231, MATH 256, PHYS 201, PHYS 202, and PYSC 201
- Attain a minimum of “B” in each required prerequisite course
- Complete a minimum of forty (40) hours of shadowing with a licensed PT. Students can satisfy this requirement with EXSC 493 (Practicum)
- Complete the online application for the BGSU DPT program through the Physical Therapist Central Application System (PTCAS) by BGSU standard admission process and deadlines.
- Applicants can utilize BGSU DPT PTCAS application guide for more instructions and information using PTCAS
- Deadline for priority action review is October 15th
- Refer to the PTCAS Directory page for specific instructions
- Submit three letters of recommendation. One recommendation must be from a physical therapist licensed in the US who has interacted with you in a clinical setting, either through employment or shadowing observation hours.
- Complete a second application to BGSU’s Graduate College once admitted through OTCA
Students who do not meet the above criteria may still apply to the BGSU OTD program and will be considered in relation to other qualified candidates in the general pool.
