Marshall Doctor of Pharmacy Qualifications (Accelerated)
Marshall University School of Pharmacy (MUSOP) accepts qualified Glenville State University students into an accelerated (3+4) Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD). Undergraduate pathways at GSU are either the Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences with Pre-Pharmacy concentration or Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry with a Biology minor. Your bachelor’s degree from GSU is awarded after successful completion in your first professional year in PharmD program.
- Complete all courses listed in the plan of study for the accelerated pathway for either:
- Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences with Pre-Pharmacy concentration (minimum of 92 credit hours)
- Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry with a Biology minor (minimum of 86 credits hours)
- Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences with Pre-Pharmacy concentration (minimum of 92 credit hours)
- Attain the following academic standards in bachelor’s degree
- Overall cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher
- Grade a “C” or better for Core Course Requirements: BIOL 120, BIOL 121, BIOL 361, CHEM 101, CHEM 102, CHEM 301, CHEM 302, ENGL 101, ENGL 102, HLTH 230, HLTH 231, MATH 202, MATH 256, and PHYS 201
- Complete the online application for “Priority Admission” by September 15th the year before you intend to start the MUSOP PharmD Program through the Pharmacy College Application Service (PharmCAS)
- Submit all transcripts
- Three letters of recommendation are required, one letter from a faculty instructor and two additional letters from: another faculty member, employer, academic advisor, pharmacist or other health care provider.
- Personal statement
- Successfully complete the on-campus interview (interviews are normally in late September/early October)
- Send your official transcript after successful completion of the 36 credits from Year 1 School of Pharmacy at MUSOP to GSU Registrar’s Office to allow GSU to award the bachelor’s degree. Transcript must be received within 18 months after your last enrollments with GSU.
