WVWC Master of Athletic Training
West Virginia Wesleyan College (WVWC) School of Exercise Science & Athletic Training guarantees acceptance for up to four Glenville State University students annually for the professional Master of Athletic Training (MAT) who meet the following requirements. WVWC shall waive deposits and offers a tuition discount of 10% for all GSU early assurance pathway students (5% discount for all other GSU students). The Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences with a concentration in Pre-Athletic Training includes all required prerequisite courses. Students pursuing another baccalaureate major may need to use elective hours to meet the prerequisite course requirement.
- Meet the general admission requirements for WVU at the time of admission to Glenville State University
- Submit the Letter of Intent to both WVWC and GSU Registrar’s offices with your expected entrance date during your freshman or sophomore year.
- Complete an undergraduate bachelor’s degree, in any major, which includes the prerequisite courses required for admission to WVWC’s professional MAT program
- Attain an overall cumulative grade point average of 2.75 or higher
- Attain an overall grade point average of 2.75 or higher in the required prerequisite courses: BIOL 120, CHEM 101, HLTH 105, HLTH 107, HLTH 230, HLTH 231, MATH 256, PED 201, PED 332, PED 421, PHYS 201, and PSYC 201
- Attain a minimum of “C” in each required prerequisite course
- Complete fifty (50) hours of observations with a certified athletic trainer. Students majoring in Health Sciences or Exercise Science can satisfy this requirement with EXSC 493 (Practicum)
- Complete an online application for the WVWC MAT program through the Athletic Training Centralized Application System (ATCAS), including all requisite elements (undergraduate transcript, essay, technical standards form, resume, two recommendations, etc). ATCAS applications open on October 1.
- Complete the online application through WVWC Graduate Admission Office upon formal acceptance to the professional MAT
