Draft design of the special GSU license plate.

Glenville State University is currently working to have a specialty license plate created and issued by the WV Department of Motor Vehicles. Over the past several months, we have worked to collect at least 100 preliminary interest applications - we reached our goal and now, final design and production of the license plate can begin.

If you missed out on applying as part of our initial interest applications, don't worry - an official application for the specialty plate will be available soon.

Additional Information

What is the cost for a pre-order plate?

A payment of $91.50 will cover the cost of the license plate for the first year or portion of the first year. If you wish to pay online by credit card, a non-refundable credit card fee of $3.00 will be added making the total $94.50.

These plates will expire July 1st of each year. This is a flat fee for all applicants and is not prorated. This initial application process is only to determine whether GSU has the minimum level of interest to pursue the design and manufacturing of the new license plate. Please continue to renew your current WV license plate during this process.

Keep in mind, this information applies to those who were part of the pre-order process. Information on how to purchase a specialty GSU plate will be available soon.

How will I know the status of my pre-order?

After submitting your application, you should receive an email confirming receipt. When the minimum pre-order threshold of 100 has been met, we will communicate with all applicants and confirm that the process is moving forward. A final update will be provided when plates have gone into production.

Do I need to keep my current plates active if I am submitting my interest pre-order?

Yes. This initial application process is only to determine whether GSU has the minimum level of interest to pursue the design and manufacturing of the new license plate. Please continue to renew your current license plate during this process.

Can I submit my application to the DMV?

Not at this time; we are currently awaiting the final approval process to be completed.
