New students are assigned to Alecia Martin, located in the Academic Success Center, for their first semester at Glenville State College. If the student is a returning student, upper level transfer, or a student switching from on campus to online, their history will be evaluated to determine if they should remain with a faculty advisor or be assigned to the online Academic Success Center Counselor.

The Academic Success Center regularly monitors students’ progress throughout the semester. At the end of the first semester if a student has a G.P.A. of 2.5 or higher and/or if they are passing a majority of their courses then that student is reassigned to a faculty advisor within their program. Alecia maintains all students enrolled in the online general study degree until graduation.  If students have not met the minimal requirements at the end of the first semester then they remain an advisee of Alecia Martin until they do so.

Likewise, online advisors have been identified in both the business and criminal justice area. Tim Henline has been designated the online advisor for the Department of Business and Dr. Kenneth Lang has been designated as the online advisor for the Department of Criminal Justice.
